OH BOY! Here I am, reviewing and expanding on my first Monthly Digest video (posted 27 Jan. 2023). It’s weird to look back on because SO much has changed, as you will see as these recaps progress.
GENERAL GIST:
Trying to find my groove again,
Figuring out where I should be putting my energy,
Am I in or am I out?
✴ MADDIE CAKES CERAMICS ✴
If you didn’t already know I started Maddie Cakes Ceramics in 2020 as a curious endeavor… Had no idea what I was doing when I decided to sell my ceramics, but I’m a doer! I’m a curious cat, an explorer, and I get shit done - which is one of my favorite traits if I do say so myself. Maddie Cakes allows me to PLAY and hopefully encourages others to do the same. It’s romantic, it’s dreamy, and playful, and earnest. It’s that part of me that just can’t help but to bring tenderness and color into form.

I also announced my FIRST GROUP SHOW at a contemporary art gallery called Hashimoto Contemporary in Los Angeles. The show is called Potluck and is all food art (what a dream!!!). You can see my exhibits so far here: exhibitions ❤️
✴ A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS ✴
1.) D-Mannose supplement that cured my UTI’s! I was getting UTI’s once a month for a few months and it was MISERABLE, as I’m sure you can imagine. Anyway, I swear by it - thank you, Colette! 🖤
2.) Ética Denim - Iris Relaxed Taper Jeans. I’m actually wearing them right now! Can confirm they are still one of my favorite pairs of jeans.
3.) Colorful Nested Measuring Cups - Very cute and fun! Made of bamboo fiber, too!
4.) Tuscan Kale Soup - This soup is always on my mind… It’s delicious and easy to make with simple ingredients! Enjoy!!!
5.) French Onion Soup - Okay, now I’m hungry.
✴ WOMEN’S ART: A MANIFESTO (1972)
✴ Madelynn’s Film Review Corner ✴
Variety (1983), dir. Bette Gordon
“This film is set in New York City in the 80s, it follows the main character named Christine who gets a new job working outside of a porn theater. She's just selling tickets, but her kind-of-boyfriend isn't crazy about her gig. As the film goes on she gets more and more curious about the films that are being played at this theater. A sexual awakening! This film is visually beautiful and is so much fun seeing gender roles flipped on their head.”
I gave this one 3½ stars on Letterboxd :-)
Well, that’s all for this recap! Hope you enjoyed taking a walk with me down memory lane… Onto Monthly Digest No. 2.
All my love,
Madelynn
