Monthly Digest Ep. 4 - Published 19 November 2023
A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS:
1.) The Power of Now Audiobook (Eckart Tolle) -
I wanted to highlight a specific part of the book, “Why Women are Closer to Enlightenment”. It goes into the menstrual cycle and how women virtually embody the unmanifested. The Tao (being) is infinite, eternally present, the mother of the universe. How I’ve interpreted this is recognizing we have the opportunity to accept our pains or challenges instead of teetering back and forth from projecting ourselves into the future, or running away / avoiding things that have happened to us in the past. It allows us to be fully present in whatever it is we are experiencing at any given moment, esp. during periods of discomfort, which I have come to recognize as a catalyst for great change. And our moon cycle is an opportunity to delve into our bodies and embrace the power and beauty of CREATION itself! This recognition ultimately allows us to relieve suffering wherever we find it.
2.) Netflix Life on Our Planet - a really beautiful series depicting earth and the different species that came before humans. I love Mother Earth!!!!
3.) Mubi's Notebook Magazine (issue 3) - Click me! I fell in love with this issue because of how forward thinking it is. This issue includes 16mm film restoration, behind the scenes of 1930’s Indian moviemaking, and my favorite: “Things a filmmaker should know” by Tsai Ming-liang (one of my favorite directors!!!)
4.) Aquemini Outkast (full album) -
This album came out in 1998. The title combines Big Boi and Andre 3000’s zodiac signs: Aquarius and Gemini. Andre 3000 was already vegan around this time (and I’m assuming meditating??) and was talking about the future of technology, liberation, and other dimensions. “Aquemini’s promise was that, if we turned our love inward toward the place that raised us, then we’d see the beauty around us. Because excellence is only magnified by the obstacles overcome to get there.” - The Blueprint of the Southern Black Renaissance
“I met a gypsy and she hipped me to some life game
To simulate then activate the left and right brain
Said baby boy you're only funky as your last cut
You focus on the past your ass'll be a has-what
That's one to live by or either that one to die to
I try to just throw it at you determine your own adventure
André, got to her station here's my destination”
I’m sensing a theme here, aren’t you? :-)
Well, turns out these Monthly Digest videos ending up really being Quarterly Digest videos! Oh what fun!
As I write and reflect on 2023 through these recaps I feel so much gratitude… This has been the most challenging year for me, and also my favorite and most rewarding. Remember, the only work we have to do is on ourselves. I so look forward to seeing what surprises 2024 has for us as we collectively shift into this new era 🪐
LET’S ENTER 2024 WITH PURE LOVE, PURE CONCIOUSNESS 🙏🌎🌱🪐🪷
All my love,
