What I'm Wearing at the Ceramics Studio

Welcome to the first installation of Throwing Fits! I enjoy filming my studio outfits in the style of short form content, but in this series we’re taking a deep dive into what I’ve been wearing lately to ceramics, AKA Maddie Cakes HQ, and share some of my favorite pieces with you!

Ceramics jargon 101: “THROWING” refers to making pottery on a wheel

BETTY SWEATER - SÉZANE

I feel like Sézane has some very iconic, recognizable pieces that you tend to see out and about, and this is one of them! This was a gift and I absolutely adore it. It’s a very special piece so I don’t wear it to the studio often, but I love the color and I love pairing it with these railroad stripe pants.

GARDENER JEANS - EVERLANE

These sturdy jeans have deep pockets that wrap all the way around to the back, which I suppose is why they are called gardener jeans (you can fit so much stuff in them!). Everlane doesn’t have the striped ones anymore, but I also have these in black and I wear them all the time. If you are looking for some railroad stripes, my friend Jemma makes the most gorgeous striped pieces (sustainably made in LA)!

HER SOCKS - LE BONNE SHOPPE

👏 THESE 👏 ARE 👏 THE 👏 ONLY 👏 SOCKS 👏 YOU 👏 NEED 👏 They don’t have this bubblegum pink anymore, but keep an eye out because they switch out their colors all the time! I’ve been buying these socks for years and have so many pairs… I also mix and match my socks because the colors are just so good! Love to wear these, esp. with Mary Janes, for an easy pop of color!

VELVET SLIPPERS - HEART TO HEART IN FLORENCE

These were a gift from my friend, Christine, who thrifted these babies for me! I did in fact, not wear these to the studio since they are my home slippies, but I would wear something like Dansko’s! They’re meant for standing/working long hours in so they’re perfect for the studio. HOT TIP: buy them used! ✨

As you can see, I love playing around with different textures, patterns, and color! And let’s be real — that’s what Maddie Cakes is all about! I’ll have to do a post on outfits inspired by some of my ceramic pieces….. SOON. In the meantime look out for more Throwing Fits!
